Lys, March-April 2021, fabric, clay and armature wire. Illustration made in Procreate (2022) and Clip studio paint (2021)
This doll of my character Lys was created for the Project 102, in Le Marais, Paris, an exhibition aimed to raise awareness of child mortality on the roads. I made him with disability representation in mind. The symbolism of childhood and toys wrapped nicely with my art practice of making puppets. He is exhibited along Joel, a character of mine sititng in a wheelchair. They were both built on very short notice between the time I was short listed for the exhibit and the time of the private view, then taken carefully to Paris where they stood for a week along with 102 other artists and 102 testimonies of young people and their loved ones victims of car crash.
