This is the living room environment for the video game I am working on about a Jewish teenage boy grappling with growing up and figuring out who he is. He lives in a moldy, cramped flat with the four other members of his family.
Creating this room was more difficult than I thought. I had a clear idea in my head of what it should look like but because of the isometric medium, nothing was quite working out how i wanted it to be. There was a few things I was sure I wanted to be there though, pipes, mold, a cramped environment and judaica.
It was very exciting to use the copyright free judaica from the NYC Jewish museum for inspiration. There is something special about creating a game which has representation so rarely seen in stories told in big video game studios.
I particularly enjoyed creating the smaller props like the ashtray, medications on the table, and phone.

This game was coded on Unity by Joshua Gundlach, find his itch.io here.
