This dollhouse was shown at the Central Saint Martins Open studios in October 2022. It displays all of the dolls I have made over the years.
The dollhouse itself is a tool, a step away from the white plinth but also, I intentionally veered away from the conventional inclination to infuse art with deeper meanings of trauma or activism. Instead, I wanted to explore the concept of making art purely for the sake of it. Collaborating with Sofie Mercer, and showing my work next to her exquisite corpse monsters, we shared a common vision of creating a vibrant and playful exhibition space. The dollhouse became a whimsical representation of our creative freedom, where we could embrace the joy and beauty of art without the burden of societal expectations or political undertones. It allowed us to indulge in an unrestricted exploration of colors, textures, and imagination, reminding us of the pure pleasure that comes from the act of creation itself.
